Psalm 56: 8-11 “ 8 Record my lament; list my tears on your scroll [b]—are they not in your record? 9 Then my enemies will turn back when I call for help. By this I will know that God is for me. 10 In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise- 11 in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”

This Psalm takes place while David is fleeing from Saul and finds himself in Gath, a Philistine city and birthplace of Goliath. The Philistines had seized him and he was calling out to God for help, and in turn finding comfort in God despite his situation.

Christian Rights Ministries   Day after day we are put into situations what may seem like trials or captivity.  Whether we are under the attack of those who are working against our faith or those who seem to have no other desire but to make our lives difficult, we feel as though nothing we can do will alleviate the situation. Though most believers understand the idea of prayer and how powerful it is from stories within the bible, it’s very easy to fill our minds with worries and other thoughts and forget to pray or lift things up to God.  Spurgeon writes, What a God is this who harkens to the cry of his children, and in a moment delivers them from the mightiest adversaries! This I know. This is one of the believer s certainties, his axioms, his infallible, indisputable verities. For God is for me. This, we know, and we know, therefore, that none can be against us who are worth a moment s fear. "If God be for us, who can be against us?" Who will restrain prayer when it is so potent?” (ToD) Verse 9 states, “Then my enemies will turn back when I call for help. By this I will know that God is for me.” It is impossible to understand the mind God and many facets about him concerning our prayers, however one thing is very clear; He answers prayer and does so in the best interest of His children. We must lift up our desires, our fears, as well as everything we are to God for him to use us, defend us, and bless us all for his glory. Today remember when we cry out for help God is there and our enemies will turn and run from his power.
